120 Years of Walther Tradition

For over 120 years, Walther has been a leading supplier of outstanding weapons in the international market. With headquarters in Germany and suppliers around the world, Walther leads the way in their production of exception rifles, handguns, military equipment and more.

Recently, in 1999, Smith & Wesson announced, with Walther, that they would team up to distribute Walther branded firearms and accessories in the United States. Today, Smith & Wesson are the sole providers of the Walther line of firearms in America, which continue to meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.

Walther's Work Ethic

Walther has a state-of-the-art production and research center in Germany, built by famous architects. It was dedicated in 2006 in Ulm and is over 12,000 square meters in size. With CAD workstations, the professional gunsmiths use ground-breaking weapon concepts. They produce every part of the gun at their facility with CNC controlled process operations and technology that includes incredible precision. They also have training facilities and firing ranges on their grounds, making sure that the employees are properly trained and that every gun is tested before being put into the market.

The Walther Philosophy

Walther believes strongly in combining technical know-how, trained employees, unusual marketing strategies, and extensive research into the creation of each of their weapons. They cherish their rich historic background, while keeping a foot firm in the present and an eye to the future.

Walther in the International Police Market

As part of their philosophy, they want to help the police force to have the best weapons possible. To this end, Walther works closely with specialists from the various police units, designing pistols that are produced with strict guidelines. They work closely with each international market, designing police weaponry that meets the standards and needs of that country's police force. With Smith & Wesson, they produced the SW99 for the U.S. police market. They worked with Fabryka Broni in Poland to produce the Walther P99 as a custom design Polish police weapon. These are two examples of the many ways that they have reached out to the international communities to help the police forces around the globe.
