Centuries of Beretta Excellence

When you decide to own a gun from a company that's been in business for almost five hundred years, you know you are getting the best on the market. Beretta firearms come with centuries of experience behind them, making them some of the finest and highest quality firearms today.

Beretta's Background

Beretta started in 1526 with Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta of Gardone. In their earliest days, Beretta products were selected by the Republic of Venice because of their high quality. Their attention to detail and pride in their line of firearms has passed on from father to son, through fifteen generations of Beretta family lines. In the early 1900s, one of these sons, Pietro, introduced more modern manufacturing techniques to the company like new patents for mechanisms and he simplified the construction of the firearms. With these changes, he put Beretta on the map as one of the most modern firearms production facilities in the entire world. Continuing his tradition in the 20th century, Pietro's sons took the company international with production in many European countries and the United States.

Beretta Now

Today, Beretta is led by Cav. Ugo Gussalli Beretta and his sons, Franco and Pietro. They are part of the Beretta Holding Group and are controlled by the Beretta family. They now have field and competition firearms and optics, and trading and distribution companies in Italy and many places abroad. Their total work force includes 2600 employees and an annual turnover of 435 million Euro. From the beginning of the 20th century until now, Beretta's production facilities have moved from 10,000 square meters to over 76,000 square meters! They have completely automated work centers and high quality craftsmen.

Tidbits about Beretta

Beretta produces approximately 1500 pieces a day that cover the entire range of firearm needs. They have over-and under and side-by-side shotguns for hunting and for competitions in many grades of finishing, autoloaders and pump action guns, express double rifles, semiautomatic pistols, assault rifles and more. About 90% of their production is for sporting firearms. More than 75% of their arms are exported to close to 100 countries around the world.

Armed Forces and More

In addition to their recreational firearms, Beretta is a leading supplier to the Armed Forces and Police Forces in Italy and other countries. In April of 2007, they signed a contract to bring the model Px4 Storm to the Canada Borders Services Agency. The Spanish Guardia Civil, the Turkish Police Force and the US Air Force all use Beretta firearms.

A Competitive Edge

In addition, Beretta is a leader in the field of competitive shooting. They won their first Olympic Gold medal in clay pigeon shooting in Melbourne in 1956. They've since won medals in the Olympic Games in such places as Rome, Munich, Montreal, Moscow, Los Angeles, Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, and recently Beijing. In Beijing they won two gold medals and a silver medal. The Beretta competition shotguns have taken home more Olympic Games medals, World Championship titles, and International Competition titles than have any other gun company.
